In this session, speaker Pradeep Karpur will delve into practical applications of data product models and federated data governance, sharing insights on the emergence of data marketplace technologies, the surge of self-serve data platforms, and observed trends in data mesh principles across multiple sectors. These trends are necessitating a data product-centric approach.The presentation will offer an exploration of the philosophies underpinning the data product model, effective practices for its implementation, and potential challenges. He will also underscore one key factor for successful data product implementation: a mature federated data governance capability that balances centralized data governance teams with business domain teams.

 - bio: Pradeep Karpur is a partner at EY's AI and Data practice in Calgary, Canada with over 25 years of data and analytics experience. His expertise spans areas such as data engineering, data science, data governance, and data strategy development. Karpur guides clients on developing data, analytics, and AI strategies while also leading projects on master data solutions, data governance platforms, and cloud data fabric applications. He is also a visiting professor at the University of Calgary, teaching business analytics, and conducts research on data management and governance trends.
