Recertification

Recertification Requirements: Download PDF document

Because the environment in which the certified professional functions is so dynamic, it is vital that ICCP certificate holders remain current in the field. The ICCP designation is valid through the end of the third year following certification. Please note: that ACPs, CBIPs, CDMPs, CCPs, and ISAs once certified commence paying their annual certified member dues, and are invoiced annually at the beginning of each year. The ICCP holder must renew their certificate through ongoing professional development before the end of the third year, and again during each succeeding three year period. ACPs and ISAs annual dues are $35 and they are required to submit 60 hours of acceptable professional development over a three year period. All other are required to pay annual dues of $75 and submit 120 hours of acceptable professional development over a three year period.

The ICCP Recertification Program has three major goals:

  • Maintain professional competence;
  • Update existing knowledge and skills;
  • Attain additional knowledge and skills.

Certification renewal may be accomplished through various kinds of professional development:

  • By expanding your certification Specialties with new examinations;
  • Through re-examination in your existing area of expertise;
  • By participating in educational and other professional activities.

120 contact hours of appropriate activities during the three year period will renew your certification. Full or partial renewal credit can be earned by adding additional Specialties to an ICCP certificate. Credit may also be earned by submitting thoughtful new questions to the ICCP for possible inclusion in the examination question pools. For more information about submitting questions read the Item Writers Guide: click here.

Reinstating your certification should it lapse:
A policy has been authorized to allow a lapsed CCP credential to be reinstated. This procedure includes a repayment of deficient annual dues, at a varying rate up to a capped amount and verification that you've maintained the currency of your knowledge at the certified level. If you were unable to maintain the currency for whatever reason, one way to demonstrate the currency of your knowledge is to retake the examinations. Please contact the ICCP office to access a discounted rate for recertification using this process.

Retired (or planning retirement?), Unemployed or Underemployed?

If you have retired or are planning for retirement, please note that you are able to continue to hold your certification on a retired status. You have to request a change in the recertification procedure (and its requirements).

For those of you who are facing financial difficulties through unemployment or underemployment, the ICCP Office is able to work out a lower cost of recertification for you until you regain full-time employment.

In both cases above, please contact the ICCP office by email (office@iccp.org) or by telephone 800-843-8227.
